Construction output in the North West has hit record levels, with Manchester and Leeds leading a regional building boom. According to the Office of National Statistics construction output in the North West was running at 10 times the national average in 2018. This unprecedented level of construction makes Manchester and the North West one of the busiest regions in Europe.

The first Building Live Club to be hosted in the North West will bring together key regional players to explore the opportunities and challenges for the sector. It will review the current state of the market in Manchester and the North West and will also look at future pipelines of work. It will explore the need to continue attracting investment to the region and how this can be used to deliver successful outcomes for clients, the supply chain and local communities.

AGENDA:

15.00 – 15.30: Registration and networking

15.30 – 15.45: Keynote speech
Eamonn Boylan, chief executive of Greater Manchester Combined Authority

15.45 – 16.45: Panel debate – building confidence and delivering successful outcomes: satisfying clients and investors
The construction boom is good news for the industry but also brings challenges including maintaining quality and ensuring projects are delivered on time. Margins and the supply chain are under pressure and the collapse of Carillion and local contractor Forrest has shaken client confidence in the industry. This session will explore how the industry can work with clients and investors to attract investment to the region and rebuild confidence in the supply chain whilst delivering successful outcomes at necessary volumes.
