Martin Coyd OBE
Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Martin Coyd is a leading Health & Safety Professional in the construction industry and is Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing at Mace Construction. Prior to this role, Martin was Head of EHS for Lendlease (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and, prior to that, a H&S Leader at Skanska
Martin has a wealth of experience in Health & Safety and has a huge passion for Health and Wellbeing. He was appointed as Chair of the Build UK (formerly UKCG) Health Group and chaired the Public Health Responsibility Deal (PHRD) Construction Group. Martin sits on the Health in Construction Leadership Group, The CONIAC Health Group and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Health & Safety Committee.
Martin is one of the leaders of Building Mental Health (BMH)
Martin spent 18 years in the Royal Engineers, serving in many and varied operational theatres and finished his time at the Royal School of Military Engineering.
Martin was instrumental in establishing the sport of Rugby League in the Army and is still playing Masters RL at 53, as well as coaching Medway Dragons First Grade. He spent four years as a member of The Rugby League Council. He is Chair of Wheelchair Rugby League in England and Manager of the England Wheelchair Rugby League Team, European Champions in 2015 and World Cup Finalists 2013 and 2017
Martin is a proud Stonewall Champion and was named in the Financial Times OUTstanding Global Top 30 LGBT Executive Allies list in 2015.
Martin was named in the SHP List of the 15 Most Influential in Health and Safety in both 2017 and 2018
Martin was awarded the OBE in the 2014 New Year’s Honours List
